Guangzhou and Shamian Island!

One of the first things you do with the whole group once they are all in Guangzhou together is to go get your child's medical exam and visa picture.  Since this was a Saturday last year and the medical exam place would not be open on Sunday, they warned us that it would be very busy.  It was!  Very croweded!  We all piled in a bus and were taken to Shamian Island which is where we spent all 10 days last time.  It was good to see it again even though there was a lot less going on due to the White Swan Hotel being closed for renovations.  This is hard on the shops that depend on the tourists.

We first stopped at the photo place to get the visa photos taken.  We were first so we had to wait for everyone else so we walked down to see Michael at Michael's Place shop.  He actually remembered us!  Soon we were all ready to go get the medical exams.  We got done there and then were told to meet at a certain place at a certain time so we walked around Shamian Island again.  We, of course, had to stop at Lucy's!!!  We were hungry for hamburgers and milk shakes!  They were a little slow in getting us our food so we got it in to-go containers and went to meet the group.  It was so good to be back on Shamian!
