First Lost Tooth

She finally lost her first tooth!  Problem is, she didn't realize she lost it until she felt it missing from her mouth.  She has no idea WHERE she lost it so she had to leave a note for the Tooth Fairy explaining she lost her tooth and she was sorry.

Holt Picnic

Today was the annual Holt Picnic.  We like to go to this since it is close to where we live.  It was great to see friends and meet new friends!  It was warm but there was a breeze so that made it bearable.

The first thing Meighan did was run to the slide.  Davis (the boy behind her) was afraid.  She told him he could sit on her lap and to "trust God" (learned from Bible School LAST year!).

Daddy took Dawson down the slide.  He went down by himself later but I missed a picture.

Cool picture of 8 kids eating lunch.  The 3rd from the left is the newest American citizen, having come home just 9 days previous!

She had a Ninja Turtle painted on her face!

Happy 4th of July!

We went down to Murdock for the parade.  I thought Dawson would be all over and wanting to be out to get candy but he sat on laps the whole time!  Meighan was nice enough to bring him some candy.

After the parade we went to my parents' to eat some lunch and then we came home for naps.

In the evening we met Tony's family to watch the Ralston fireworks.  Not the greatest place in the world for kids because they are building a Menard's there and there's lots of dirt and uneven ground.  Maybe we can go see fireworks somewhere else next year -- that's safer for kids.

Cool little dude!

After several tries, we finally got a decent family picture.

And I got to experiment with my new camera on fireworks pictures.  I had a few good ones!

Summer Haircut (and temporary mohawk!)

Dawson needed a haircut so Tony was going to take him in on Saturday and they both get haircuts.  He kept threatening to have Dawson's hair cut and styled into a Mohawk.  I had to go along and take pictures.  He's going to be SOOOO much cooler with a short haircut this summer!

Starting the shave

Quite long before she styled it up!

Mohawk!

She had kinda funky hair, too!

All done!

Then he got a blue sucker!

All ready for summer!

VBS and Father's Day

Wow!  What a whirlwind of a week this was!

VBS was Monday through Friday mornings.  Meighan was in the Kindergarten class this year.  I helped with games.  Meighan absolutely LOVED it.  Me, not so much.

The way they do VBS is just so hectic and crazy I don't know how anyone can get anything out of it!  Maybe it's not so bad being a kid in VBS but the leaders/volunteers are just run ragged!

Meighan especially likes the music and the actions they do to the songs.  The songs are cool, some contemporary new songs and others are jazzed up old hymns.  So now when Meighan hears one of the old hymns, she actually recognizes it as something she learned in VBS even if it's done in a traditional style.

They did a service project where they donated money to help supply school supplies to a school in a third world country.  They raised over $2500!

Today, Father's Day, was the VBS celebration during church where the kids sang their songs for everyone.  Another hectic day.  I kind of wish they would have VBS on a different week so that Father's Day can be FATHER'S DAY like Mother's Day is Mother's Day!

Anyway, we finished up at church and came home and grilled some chicken and vegetables and potatoes in foil packets for lunch.  Then three of the people took naps.  I did not get a nap as I needed to get caught up on things that didn't get done last week!  Later on we went to Tony's brother's house for a pot luck with his family.  After we got home from that, we had a Father's Day photo session!  Here are the results.

Church Camp

Our trip home from Nashville went very smoothly.  We saw a storm coming towards us as we were in St. Louis and we were hungry so we found a Cracker Barrel and got in there just as it was starting to rain.  While we were ordering and waiting for our food, it started POURING!  I'm very glad we were inside during that and not out driving!

The rest of the trip home went well and we hit some nasty rain just south of Omaha but we made it home just fine.

The day after we got home from our trip, Meighan went with my mom to her very first church camp (at the same camp I went to in Jr. Hi!).  She had an absolute BLAST!  She also made a very good friend.  We need to make sure the girls get together again.

Jumping!  One of her favorite activities!

Looking through her God Finder

In the dining hall with Grandma

With her new bestest friend

She got to ride a horse!

Always together!
